Interview Stage

Candidates who are selected will be contacted and invited to attend an interview. They will receive further information including when and where the interview will take place, what they might need to bring with them and any assessment methods that may be used.

Offer Stage

After an interview has taken place, a successful candidate will be offered the post verbally, followed by a confirmation in writing. The initial offer will be subject to clearances including references, DBS checks and safeguarding checks.

Complaints

New Horizons wants to ensure quality of opportunity in its recruitment and selection. If you think you have been discriminated against during the selection process because of your race, gender, disability, gender re-assignment, social class, sexual orientation and religion or belief, you may raise a complaint and we will look into it. Complaints must be raised within 72 hours of being informed of the decision to reject. Complaints will be dealt with by staff who were not involved in the recruitment process.

STAFF TRAINING

New Horizons places great importance on continuing professional development for employees.

  • All new staff are appointed on a 3-month probationary contract. If their appointment was made on condition they commence or complete a particular qualification route, this will be monitored. During the probationary period, staff will have time with managers to learn and understand the principles and practices of New Horizons.
  • Managers, as well as supporting the staff team, will provide formal supervision each month to see members of the team. All staff members have an annual performance and development appraisal. This process includes reviewing developmental targets from the previous year, including what support the staff require.
  • New Horizons also provides a “de-briefing” service for staff that have experienced a traumatic work-related incident.
